Wen Zhengming (1470-1559) was born in Jiangsu Changzhou. His style name was Zhengzhong, and sobriquet was Hengshan Jushi. He was called to Beijing in his 54th year, and served as an official at the Hanlin Academy, participating in the writing of "The History Records of Wuzong". Later he grew tired of the life in the capital city and returned to his hometown, focusing on art, and passed away at the age of 90. He was very accomplished in poetry and paintings, and is considered one of the leaders of the art scene in Suzhou in mid-Ming Dynasty era. Wen Zhengming is prolific in various writing styles, his semi-cursive and cursive follow the tradition of Wang Xizhi, and takes some hints after Huang Tingjian, Zhao Mengfu. This painting have strong and determined pen strokes, which is similar to the style of Zhao. This is the third selection of the Ming Dynasty Written Fans Collection Book.
